Historic Kindergarten
Carefully Restored and Modernized
Originally built in 1906 and designed as a kindergarten by renowned Schaffhausen architect Jakob Stamm (1861-1933), this landmark building underwent an extensive restoration in 2024. Under the direction of Nolè - Schneeberger Architects, the building was not only carefully restored but also upgraded to meet modern energy efficiency standards.
Particular emphasis was placed on the functionality of the interior spaces, optimized for the needs of children and staff. To add storage, the architects complemented the historical furnishings with simple, understated cabinet elements. The cabinet fronts can be fully opened by pivoting, folding, and sliding the doors to the sides. This solution, made possible by Hawa Concepta III hardware, allows flexible use of the cabinets without restricting the children’s freedom of movement within the space.
The refurbishment exemplifies a successful harmony between historical heritage and modern functionality.
